POSITION SUMMARY
This senior level position will be responsible for architecting, maintaining and providing ongoing support for the storage environment, including SAN and Backup / Recovery, provisioning of storage resources including storage mirroring, provisioning of fabric resources including cabling and zoning, problem identification and resolution of the SAN storage and fabric. This position requires excellent technical skills and proven attention to details, process, and discipline within a production environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Provides comprehensive designs to address the company’s strategic direction for Storage platforms; evaluates emerging technologies; implements systems/architectures based on best practices; ensures system integrity with regards to security and compliance guidelines.
• Develops activity plans, time and resource estimates; and cost benefit analyses for planned activities. Ensures that changes and enhancements are carried out properly and on a timely basis.
• Manages multiple priorities effectively. Maintains clear and efficient communications with management and customers. Provides guidance and mentoring to peers. Prepares presentations on technical subject matter for senior management.
• Works closely with development, network, and support teams in implementation of storage infrastructure components supporting emerging technologies and applications.
• Responds to issue escalation and service interruption as a confident technical leader. Assume technical leadership role in problem resolution and root cause analysis. Provide actionable after-incident analysis to ensure root cause issues are logged and remediated.
• Prepares activity and progress reports for projects ensuring issues are properly escalated and resolved to maintain delivery schedule, project cost, and desired results.
• Maintains effective external relationships with vendors, consultants, and service providers; leverages these relationships to ensure that the best fit solutions and resources are available to the firm.
QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
• 7 – 10 years of experience working with backup/storage/SAN/NAS technologies
• 7 – 10 years experience with design, implementation, and management of SAN/NAS and tiered storage architectures
• Bachelors Degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience preferred
• Commvault Administration and Engineering
• Implementation of enterprise wide storage solutions, modification to existing storage configurations, and evaluating new storage technologies
• Expert knowledge of Storage Technologies such as HDS, EMC, SAN, NAS, Performance monitoring and tuning
• Experience with Tiered Storage, Virtual Storage, Virtual Tape, Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery strategies
• Experience with virtualization solutions VMWare
• Functional knowledge of core Networking
• Regimented change and release management methodology. Security and Patch updates to follow the firm’s change management procedures and a patch release schedule
• Leads technology and product general assessments, detailed evaluations, and final selections
• Leads system performance diagnosis and scalability assessment activities
• Experience with current best practices in IT standards, principles, and security practices
• Knowledge around MS SQL 2005, Double-Take and Virtualization technologies a plus
• Excellent technical documentation skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and mentoring skills
