Mr. Fertel rejoined Janney in June 2008 as Managing Director of Fixed Income Sales Management after running a financial services hedge fund for two years.

Mr. Fertel founded and managed the Asset/Liability Services group (ALM) at Janney from 1995 until 2006. In his role he advised community banks on a broad range of issues, including asset/liability modeling, balance sheet strategies, loan and deposit pricing and capital management planning. He has worked with dozens of banks and thrifts in the Mid-Atlantic region ranging in size from $100 million to $15 billion. The ALM group is an integral part of Janney’s Financial Institutions Group (FIG) practice.

For the four years prior to joining Janney, Mr. Fertel was with PNC Bank (Provident Bank) in Philadelphia, PA, where he managed the asset/liability department, the funding department and investment portfolio. He also managed institutional mutual funds for a year at a bank subsidiary company, Blackrock (Provident Funds).
