From now through the middle of November, the equity market might be overwhelmed by the onslaught of corporate earnings reports.

Earnings report season is always important, but in the midst of the legislative battle in Washington DC, recently mixed economic data, and the highest inflation rate in a long time, this earnings report period is poised potentially to be the most consequential in the past two years. 

Corporate earnings for the first half of 2021 surpassed even the most optimistic year-over-year estimates and sequential improvement, which led to increasingly optimistic estimates for what full-year earnings might be.
