PHILADELPHIA – Janney Montgomery Scott LLC, a leading full-service wealth management and investment banking firm, is pleased to announce that Louis English has joined its Capital Markets Group as Managing Director and Head of Municipal Sales within its fixed income vertical. He will be based in the firm’s Chicago office.

Louis brings 35 years of experience and continues Janney’s strategic efforts to strengthen and expand its municipal finance business. Louis will manage a municipal salesforce responsible for institutional account development and partnering with Janney’s public finance, underwriting, and trading units to achieve client success with new bond issues.

“We’re excited to welcome Louis to Janney. His municipal sales experience and proven ability to work across sales, trading, research, underwriting, and banking is a valuable asset as we seek to increase origination,” said Bill Reisner, Co-Head of Fixed Income within Janney’s Capital Markets Group. “While many competitors have recently exited the business or significantly reduced their public finance presence, Janney continues to strengthen our commitment to the municipal bond sector. Adding senior leaders such as Louis signifies our commitment to growing and expanding our negotiated business and  enhancing our ability to serve the needs of our clients.”

Louis brings strong leadership and a wealth of municipal sales experience to Janney. Previously, he was with Baird, having operated as a producing sales manager, as well as a leading municipal salesperson at Mesirow, Loop Capital Markets and William Blair.

“Louis is joining a talented and highly capable team at Janney,” said Matt Davis, Head of Municipal Underwriting and Trading. “Janney is already very active in the competitive and secondary market, and our goal is to grow our negotiated business with new banker hires and regional and sector diversity. Louis will deliver a more strategic approach to account coverage across the department and act as a conduit between sales, trading, research, underwriting, and public finance, offering key insights on opportunities and strengthening relationships with bankers as we deepen our negotiated business.”
