Congratulations to Janney’s Wealth Planning department for receiving a 2018 Annual Industry Award for technology among broker/dealers with fewer than 1,000 advisors.

This prestigious award was presented to Jessica Landis, CFP®, ChFC®, Director of Financial Planning, at a black-tie awards gala on September 13 at The Ziegfeld Ballroom in Manhattan. Now in its fourth year, received a record number of entries—nearly 600 submissions from 156 companies. Out of this large pool of submissions, judges gave 67 awards to 59 companies. Janney won the technology award based on its implementation and utilization of Advicent’s NaviPlan, a planning software that empowers firms to cater their services to any client, from simple goals-based to advanced cash flow planning. Janney winning the Wealth Management Award for technology is significant because it shows that the firm and its advisors have a strong commitment to prioritizing holistic advice centered around planning,” said Jessica. “As products and planning tools become commoditized, offering personalized planning advice is a great differentiator that adds significant value to our firm.”

Jack J. Cintorino, JD, Vice President, Senior Financial Planner said, “Our goal is to understand our client’s hopes, dreams, desires, fears, and concerns. With Naviplan, once we have that understanding, we can then provide a detailed roadmap for our clients that identifies short and long term needs, offers solutions and an implementation strategy.”

Using NaviPlan allows advisors to structure client conversations around the planning software and helps raise questions that clients may have never thought about. It helps them focus on what their goals are and when they want to reach them. The software was rolled out in 2017 and adoption of the technology by advisors and branches has been increasing. The number of plans Janney advisors completed increased 100% in year one and 50% in year two. In addition, all branch locations have completed plans using the new tool.

“As an advisor, Naviplan has been vital to our practice,” said Allison J. Nichols, CFP®, Financial Advisor at Janney. “Financial planning is a crucial aspect of our relationship with clients and helps us learn more about their lives and goals, financial or otherwise. The modular aspect of Naviplan allows me to directly address clients’ questions or concerns rather than always completing a comprehensive plan, which is extremely helpful. Even more helpful is the interactive nature of the tool. Being able to incorporate discussion topics during the meeting and seeing the results in real time is invaluable to my clients and me.”

“It’s great to see the team’s work ackoweledged through this award,” said Jessica. “They worked really hard to narrow down the choices thinking about what platform would be the most effective for Janney’s advisors, clients, and recruits. The planning team worked together to help advisors with the transition. Each day they come to work to help advisors engage their clients and provide more impactful plans. To ensure that this technology was a fit for Janney, we created a beta group of 80 advisors to test and provide feedback. Janney’s IT developement team also deserves acknowledgement. It’s because of them that our Janney systems are able to work so seamlessly with Naviplan.”

Janney was also named as a finalist in two other Award categories—social media leadership and transition support.
