Community is defined as a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common. This definition, while accurate, seems insufficient. Communities bring people together to support each other through the adversities of everyday life. In an industry that is all about people, without it, our business would not thrive.

The members of Team Janney live and work in over 110 offices across the country. However, regardless of where they reside, one thing is clear to all—there are not enough words in the dictionary to convey the importance of giving back. As a firm, we take immense pride in the time and effort our employees dedicate to their communities throughout the year. For them, it is not just another item on a to-do list, it is an integral part of who they are.

This year, we decided to highlight those incredible efforts through a month-long social media campaign titled “A Month of Janney Giving.” Not only did this campaign provide a window into the kindhearted people that make up our firm, but it also brought recognition to numerous non-profit organizations across the east coast and as far west as Ohio. Posts from the campaign were viewed 44,500 times and drove a total of 1,748 engagements. Thank you to all of the branches, teams, and advisors who participated, and to the entire Janney family for your commitment to keeping people at the center.

Highlights

  • Bel Air, MD – For the fourth straight year, Janney’s Bel Air office invited clients to participate in their Community Outreach Partnership, supporting organizations that work to meet needs in the community. This past November, they presented over $2,000 in addition to food and household items to two local organizations—Anna’s House and the Maryland Food Bank.
  • Charlotte, NC – Janney’s Charlotte office served their community in a variety of different ways last year. They participated in the Janney-wide Socktober, donating over 800 pairs of socks for men, women, and children to a local homeless shelter. They also brought dinner to the Charlotte Ronald McDonald House. Finally, Carolina Wealth Advisors volunteered as a team at a local charity called Beds for Kids, cleaning and prepping furniture for delivery. The organization provides furnishings to local families getting back on their feet.

All team members served meals at the homeless shelter quarterly and provided holiday gift cards for 40 children on behalf of the office.
  • Corporate Office, Philadelphia, PA – In May, Janney participated in the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House (RMH) 10th Annual Plane Pull. Team Janney raised a total of $4,435!
  • Falmouth, Norwell and Osterville, MA – The Falmouth, Norwell, and Osterville branches completed their first Janney Complex Coat Drive, collecting 129 coats, 38 hats and scarves, 18 pairs of gloves, and 20 pairs of heavy socks. • Hazleton, PA – Janney’s Hazleton office participated in the annual celebration of Christmas in Conyngham, selling $1 cups of hot chocolate and coffee to many spirited guests. The team has been involved in this event since its inauguration in 2013, raising close to $5,000 for the local Valley Food Pantry over the years. This year’s total grossed over $925!

In 2018, they sponsored and took part in the Pittsburgh Melanoma Foundation 5k Run/Walk for the fourth consecutive year.
  • Miami, FL – Janney’s Miami branch participated in National Rebuild Day for Rebuilding Together Miami, an organization that brings volunteers together to improve the lives of homeowners in need.
