George T. Croonquist, Senior Vice President / Wealth Management of The Croonquist Group, recently celebrated 60 years with Janney and was honored for this achievement at Janney’s November 2017 Branch Managers Meeting.
His impressive longevity in the financial services industry, serving the financial needs of his clients in Hackensack, NJ, began in 1957 when Croonquist joined Joseph Walker & Sons, a group that was later acquired by Janney in 1963.
Today, George continues to make an impact through providing his clients with excellent service while running the business alongside his two sons, G. Thomas Croonquist, Jr. CFP®, Executive Vice President / Wealth Management, Branch Office Manager and C. Peter Croonquist, AWMA®, Senior Vice President / Wealth Management.
“One of the most important accomplishments of my career has been working with my two sons,” said George. “We work together to benefit our clients, brainstorming innovative ideas and giving our practice longevity because of our ability to understand and support the needs of different generations. Some of my grandchildren have also expressed interest in following in our footsteps, so our group could very well continue for a third generation.”
When asked about his six decades with Janney, he commented, “I think what has always set Janney apart is our strong client and Financial Advisor-focused culture, along with great leadership. It’s great to see Tim (Scheve) driving the firm with such enthusiasm, bringing us to the successful place where we are today.”
“During the span of his distinguished 60-year career at Janney, George has built a reputation among his clients and the community as a trusted advisor to families spanning multiple generations,” said Jerry Lombard, President of Janney’s Private Client Group. “His ability to build enduring client relationships is grounded in his strong commitment to putting clients’ needs first – a theme that forms the core of Janney’s culture today. George embodies the characteristics we strive to find in our Financial Advisors and in all employees at the Firm.”
George has served as a mentor for his sons, who value his depth of knowledge and experience in the industry. Peter said, “There is no better experience than learning from someone who has lived through so many market conditions. I think it’s a real testament to the support that Janney offers its Financial Advisors that my dad has been with the firm for so many decades. And he still has a smile on his face.” He continued, “The home office support and technology that we are given, has allowed us to build our business and be successful.”
George has not only been an advocate for his clients, but has also spent a lifetime giving back to his community through volunteerism, and being locally engaged in his home state of New Jersey. “Dad has led by example, showing us how impactful and important supporting our local community is,” said Thomas.
George’s community investment and volunteerism have benefited the Archdiocese of Newark, along with numerous organizations that he has served on the board of, including the Hackensack University Medical Center, the HUMC Foundation, and his Alma Mater, St. Peter’s University, to name a few.
George and his wife, June, have been married for 53 years. The have four children and ten grandchildren.
