The experienced team will focus on midstream and upstream energy sector.

PHILADELPHIA – Janney Montgomery Scott LLC, a leading full-service wealth management, financial services, and investment banking firm, has announced the addition of an experienced team with a focus on the midstream and upstream energy sector to its Capital Markets Group.

The team, formerly affiliated with Baird, is led by Managing Directors Curtis Goot and Frank Murphy. Curtis and Frank have more than 50 years of combined industry experience, and over the past 10 years have completed 225 midstream and upstream advisory and capital raising transactions totaling over $100 billion in aggregate deal value for a broad range of clients. They are joined by Carl Grote, Vice President; Carter Ellston, Associate; and Kevin Pavlacic, Analyst.

“Curtis and Frank operate a conflict-free M&A advisory and fairness opinion business, and bring a long history of assisting energy companies with complex, high-profile deals,” said Geoff Hodgson, Head of Equities and Investment Banking. “Their addition underscores our commitment to expand our reach, deepen our sector experience, and invest in the business to meet our strategic objectives.”

“We are thrilled to welcome Curtis, Frank, and their talented team to Janney. Their energy industry experience is a natural fit within our Infrastructure vertical, and we look forward to leveraging sector knowledge and strategic relationships to better serve our clients,” said Matt Veneri, Head of Investment Banking.

Commenting on the move to Janney, Curtis and Frank stated, “We are very excited to be joining a firm committed to the energy sector and providing our clients with the highest quality advice. We are looking forward to establishing Janney as a premier advisor to the midstream and upstream sectors, and working with our clients as the energy sector recovers from the effects of COVID-19.”

Janney has consistently ranked as a top middle-market capital markets firm in the U.S. since 2015, and in that time has completed 409 capital markets and M&A transactions aggregating over $48 billion in transaction value. The Investment Banking team operates in four sectors, including Business Services, Financial Institutions, Infrastructure and Real Estate.
