In her current role, Jody K. Lurie applies her extensive knowledge in portfolio construction, along with her experience in fixed income credit and economic strategy, to Janney financial advisors and their clients. She works closely with the Fixed Income Trading Desk, along with other parts of Janney’s Wealth Management division, to consult on asset allocation, security selection, and customized fixed income solutions to fit Janney clients’ specific investing objectives and financial goals.
Before stepping into her current role, she was the Corporate Credit Analyst in Janney’s Investment Strategy Group. Her first role at Janney was as an investment banker in the Firm’s Consumer & Retail Group, working with companies in the food & beverage and hard- and soft-line retail spaces. She played a role in various transactions, including initial public offerings, follow-on offerings, mergers & acquisitions, private placements, fairness opinions, and other financial advisory. She served on the deal team for prominent transactions, such as Tasty Baking’s sale to Flowers Foods, AC Moore’s sale to Sbar’s, and Utz Quality Foods’ purchase of Dirty Potato Chips. Prior to joining Janney, Jody worked at Citigroup-Smith Barney.
She is a respected thought leader and public speaker, regularly appearing in-print and on-air to discuss key issues in the industry. She has been quoted by The Wall Street Journal, MarketWatch, Barron’s, Bloomberg, CNBC, Fox Business News, Reuters, Financial Times, ABC News, Chicago Tribune, National Public Radio, and other major news outlets. She is also a sought after speaker at industry events and conferences. In May 2016, she testified before the US Senate Finance Committee during the hearing “Debt versus Equity: Corporate Integration Considerations.” On multiple occasions, she has presented at the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia to the Philadelphia Council for Business Economics. Jody was a recipient of the Philadelphia Business Journal’s Women of Distinction Rising Star Award in 2018.
Jody is a Chartered Financial Analyst® (CFA) charterholder and a member of the CFA Society of Philadelphia. She holds Series 7, 63, and 79 licenses. She graduated with honors from Bryn Mawr College, where she received her A.B. magna cum laude in Mathematics (Honors) and Economics.
She is active in several industry and community organizations. She serves on the Pepper Council of the Free Library of Philadelphia, as well as the Rohr Center of Bryn Mawr, Haverford, and Swarthmore, where she received the Distinguished Alumni award. She also serves as the Fundraising Co-chair for her class of the Bryn Mawr Alumnae Association. Previously, jody served on the board of the Hillel of Greater Philadelphia and participated in the 2015-2016 mentorship program of the Forum for Executive Women. Within Janney, she serves on the Steering Committee of the Firm’s Women’s Interactive Network (WIN). She also oversaw Janney’s Capital Markets internship program for several years and sat on the Capital Markets Diversity & Inclusion Committee. Her volunteer work includes participating in Big Brother Big Sisters and leading teams at Janney that participated in the Anti-Defamation League’s Walk Against Hate and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk, along with coordinating the Firm’s clothing drives for Project H.O.M.E. and Career Wardrobe. She recently reviewed financial information for grants submitted to the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.
Outside of work, Jody enjoys cooking, baking, running, swimming, impressionist art, music, classic films & documentaries, bowling, and traveling.
