What are the incentives for my advisor to move to Janney?

As in many industries, it is a common practice among financial firms to provide incentives to financial advisors; however, most advisors move to Janney because we provide them the flexibility to manage their business for the benefit of you, their client. This flexibility allows your advisor to offer you a wide range of investments from our extensive and open investment platform. Your advisor will not be limited to only a small selection of proprietary investments. Also, Janney does not provide your financial advisor with incentives to sell one specific investment type over another; this allows your advisor to make investment recommendations that are in your best interest, not ours.

Can I transfer all of my holdings to Janney? What are the implications and costs if I can’t?

With our open investment platform, most assets are transferrable to Janney with no cost to you. Most assets that aren’t transferrable can easily be replaced with similar types of investments. We encourage you to have a discussion with your advisor about the specifics of your portfolio.

What costs will I pay – both in the short term and ongoing – if I change firms?

In some cases short-term costs, such as transfer fees, may be reimbursed by Janney or your advisor. Long-term costs, such as account maintenance fees, are probably similar to what you have been paying; you may find our fees are less. Again, we encourage you to have an open dialogue with your advisor about your portfolio and any associated short-term or long-term costs.

How do the products at Janney compare with my current firm?

As stated above, our open investment platform allows you to transfer most assets to Janney with no additional cost to you, and a variety of alternative solutions are available for assets that are non-transferrable. Open dialogue is the best way to determine which solutions are best suited for you.

What level of service will I have?

Janney’s service, support, and online features are comparable to any other financial firm, big or small. In fact, results from our 2015 client satisfaction survey indicated that 87% of Janney clients who responded reported their overall satisfaction as excellent or very good.
