The day-to-day demands of running a business can be all-consuming. Often, there’s little time left over to think strategically about the intersection of your business and personal wealth, but we’re here to help.

As a business owner, you hold a uniquely complex set of needs, circumstances, and concerns around managing your complete financial picture. At Janney, we have extensive resources, knowledge, and experience to help you synchronize your personal and business wealth through a comprehensive financial planning approach, including strategies and solutions to address business succession planning, executive compensation, business retirement plans, business optimization, and more.

Business Succession Planning

You work hard to build your business, but have you considered what will happen when you are ready to move on? Will you keep the business in the family? Transition to a business partner(s)? Sell the business? We can help you craft a comprehensive business continuity and/or business succession plan, including a well-thought-out exit strategy, to ensure a smooth transition of ownership and protection of your financial future.

Business Retirement Plans

A comprehensive retirement plan solution is key to attracting and retaining talent for your business. We offer customized solutions, practical insight, and access to valuable tools and resources. • Profit-Sharing Plans (Traditional or New Comparability)
  • Defined Benefit Plans (Traditional or Cash Balance)
  • Simplified Employee Pension (SEP) IRAs

Risk Management

Without sufficient protections in place, all you’ve worked for is at risk. We can help identify, customize, and implement insurance solutions for you and your business, including:

  • Fully Funded Buy-Sell Agreements
  • Key Person Insurance
  • Disability Insurance
  • Life Insurance

Cash Management

We have the resources and knowledge to provide better integration between your banking and investments— and can help identify customized strategies designed to optimize cash flow and income, maximize tax efficiencies, and address purchase needs. Whether that’s leveraging your portfolio, obtaining residential or commercial real estate loans, or accessing unsecured lending, some of the solutions we offer to leverage your wealth efficiently include:

  • Institutional Money Market Funds
  • Cash Sweep Program (FDIC insured up to $2.5M or $5M, based on account type)
  • Custom Bond Ladders and Portfolios
  • Access to New Issue Municipal and Corporate Bonds

Tax Planning and Mitigation Strategies

Tax planning is fundamental to running a successful business. Wherever your business is in its lifecycle, we can help you protect the value of your business—now and even after you pass on the reins. You can explore income and estate tax planning strategies to:

  • Understand the tax implications of the sale of your business
  • Identify the tax implications of transitioning the business to a family member through a gift, sale, or combination of both—and consider:
    • The use of discounts and multi-generational planning strategies
    • Effective governance strategies
  • Outline and execute the steps needed to prepare for selling your business to an outside buyer
  • Ensure you have a plan in place in case of an unexpected loss of a business owner or key person

Comprehensive Financial Planning

As a business owner, you’re pulled in many directions. We’re here to bring your complete financial picture into focus—both personal and professional—to help them work together to meet your needs and goals.

Not only can we help you explore ways to bolster your annual tax-deferred retirement savings, but we’ll also help you put a plan in place with the intent to generate tax-efficient retirement income and strategically leverage other assets to help you grow your business and personal wealth.

We’ll also partner with you to establish an impactful legacy through a thorough estate plan, ensuring a tax-efficient wealth transfer to your next generation and many generations to come—while supporting any philanthropic causes close to your heart.

Working With Janney

Depending on your financial needs and personal preferences, you may opt to engage in a brokerage relationship, an advisory relationship or a combination of both. Each time you open an account, we will make recommendations on which type of relationship is in your best interest based on the information you provide when you complete or update your client profile.

If you engage in a brokerage relationship, you will buy and sell securities on a transaction basis and pay a commission for these services. Our recommendations for the purchase and sale of securities will be based on what is in your best interest and reflect reasonably available alternatives at that time.

If you engage in an advisory relationship, you will pay an asset-based fee, which encompasses, among other things, a defined investment strategy, ongoing monitoring, and performance reporting. Your Financial Advisor will serve in a fiduciary capacity for your advisory relationships.
